Travel & Tourism gives you the skills and knowledge to be able to manage, promote, organise, arrange and coordinate personal and commercial travel, financial and strategic tourism management, national and international travel products and destinations and legal and logistical operations. The Advanced Diploma covers all of the content from Certificate III, the Diploma of Tourism and the Advanced Diploma of Tourism. Your modules will include (but not limited to) the following:

  • Managing financial operations
  • Managing physical assets
  • Profiling the market
  • Selecting venues and sites
  • Establishing and maintaining occupational health and safety systems
  • Providing event staging support
  • Coordinate on-site event registration
  • Research and evaluate event industry trends and practices
  • Develop crowd control plans and procedures
  • Develop and implement a business plan
  • Develop and manage marketing strategies
  • Plan and implement minimal impact operations
  • Plan and develop ecologically sustainable tourism operations
  • Assess tourism

You will be assessed continuously throughout the year. Your assignments are marked in the following way: 

  • Competent - high distinction
  • Competent - credit distinction
  • Competent 
  • Not yet competent

Your transcript will have these classifications which is different from a lot of other VET providers who just use the Competent or Not Yet Competent classifications.

If you are looking to continue your studies further, this course can lead to a Bachelor of Management (Tourism) or Bachelor of Commerce (Tourism) degree. You will gain 36 credit points towards a 72 point degree which is the equivalent to 1.5 years. We have articulation agreements in place with universities across Australia including the University of Canberra.
